Brigidini biscuits

1 egg
50 g granulated sugar
200 g plain flour
1 tsp aniseed
40 g butter
few tbsp milk, few drops of vanilla essence
salt and frying oil
1 tsp baking powder

break the egg in a bowl, add the sugar, sifted flour, salt, aniseed, softened butter and mix adding the vanilla essence and milk to form a firm dough. Add the baking powder working quickly.
Break into pieces and make little balls (walnut size) in your hands, flatten into thin shapes and fry in deep boiling oil until golden and crisp.
